With the new license law changes, CE will be changing somewhat. Agents will fall into one of 3 categories:
Salesperson - April 30, 2012
- The renewal date is April 30, 2012.
- A salesperson must obtain a Broker's license by that date, through proficiency examination (1 try) or by taking a 30 hour class.
- The last date to take the proficiency exam is March 15, 2012.
- If you PASS the proficiency test, you will need to take CE. Since it is a 3 year renewal period, agents will need 18 hours (at least 9 in Core classes).
- If you FAIL the proficiency test (or don't want to take it), you will need to take a 30- hour class, but you will need NO CE.
- You cannot receive credit twice for the same CE class in any renewal period
- See My Schedule tab for CE proficiency classes in your area
- Since we are now in the renewal period, you must transition and renew your license at the same time, meaning your CE will need to be complete. Click here to transition.
Broker License (but not a managing broker) - April 30, 2012
- If you are not a managing broker, and don't intend to ever manage, you need not transition your license and will just need your regular CE:
- 6 hours of Core classes (Core A and Core B)
- 6 hours of Elective classes (or other Core classes)
- Broker Management classes are no longer required for this group.
- You will be allowed to sit for the managing broker proficiency exam, but if you pass and obtain that license, you will need to take the 12 hours of broker management classes every 2 years and will need 18 hours of CE by 4-30-13.
Broker License (managing broker) - April 30, 2013
- This category includes 1 person, self-sponsored brokerages.
- The renewal date is April 30, 2013.
- A managing and/or sponsoring broker must obtain a Managing Broker's license by April 30, 2012, through proficiency examination (1 try) or by taking a 45 hour class.
- The last date to take the proficiency exam is March 15, 2012. You must transition now, although your license will not renew until 2013. Click here to transition.
- If you PASS the proficiency test, you will need to take CE. Since it is a 3 year renewal period, managers will need 18 hours (at least 9 in Core classes) PLUS you will now be required to take the 12 hour broker management course (previously 6 hours). It must be taken live- no homestudy. Available after 5-1-12.
- If you FAIL the proficiency test (or don't want to take it), you will need to take a 45- hour class by 4-30-12, but you will not need to take the 12-hour broker management course, just your CE.
